Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote has said the first thing he would do after acquiring Arsenal football club is to sack Arsene Wenger.
In an interview with Bloomberg, Dangote said he had always wanted to own the English club since the mid-1980s.
“The first thing I would change is the coach. He has done a good job, but someone else should also try his luck,” he said.
Dangote added that he would persuade Stan Kroenke, American billionaire and Arsenal’s biggest shareholder and Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov to sell their shares to him.
“If they get the right offer, I’m sure they would walk away. Someone will give them an offer that will make them seriously consider walking away. And when we finish the refinery, I think we will be in a position to do that,” said Dangote.
“It’s a great team, well-run. It could be run better, so I will be there,” he said. “I will wait. Even if things change I will take it,” he added.
Wenger is Europe’s longest-serving manager. Since his appointment to the London-based club in 1996, he’s won three Premier League titles and seven FA Cup trophies.

The call by some Nigerians for President Muhammadu Buhari to resume or resign seems to have taken another dimension with a group purportedly planning to hold a night protest at his residence in London.
A Facebook post by Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state, which he credited to a certain Uwakwe-mangse Hanna, read that “There will be a Night Vigil Resume or Resign protest at Abuja House in London This Friday 18th August.
“The London Metropolitan police have given us the permit to go ahead.
”If you are Nigerian and live in the UK, this is the time to make yourself available and save Nigeria.
”Refreshments will be made available but if you want to come with your own that’s ok.”
According to the statement, the group has also been granted parking permission to come out with their cars for the protest as well.
“It’s an all night vigil. Come with your candle and torch or use the one on your phones.”
Members of the group also accused officer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of paying people £200 each to do a counter protest
“We heard APC officers in the UK are trying to pay people £200 (per head) for a counter protest. Unfortunately for them, the police are going to be there live for our protection. Any counter protest they will be arrested and charged with obstruction.
“Come one, come all. (Credit: Uwakwe-mangse Hanna),” the post read.

This was made known in a statement issued by Abraham Adedeji, Olori Wuraola’s Press Secretary on Tuesday.
It has come to the attention of our office – the slanderous rumors and sensationalist distortions about Her Majesty, Olori Wuraola Ogunwusi through unnamed and unseen sources.
The sources are also citing deplorable claims involving Her Majesty Wuraola and that of prominent businessmen in Nigeria, all of whom are good friends of the King and Queen & financial contributors to projects that have advanced our good work in the communities of Ife and Nigeria as a whole.
We are deeply disturbed by these rumors and there is absolutely no truth to these absurd claims of infidelity and we vehemently deny them.
Due to the nature of the allegations and the attempt to defame the character of the Queen and embarrass well respected friends of our Palace, we have immediately employed legal counsel to investigate their origin to take necessary action against the perpetrators.

Manchester United have steamrolled West Ham at Old Trafford. They looked scarily good at times, and now have the clinical touch to press home their dominance.
A painful day gets even worse for Slaven Bilic and his West Ham side. Paul Pogba drives the ball forward and strikes from range into the bottom corner.
Romelu Lukaku was in acres of space to score a hat-trick, but Pogba wanted his name on the scoresheet and the two friends share a joke during the celebrations.
That was a thing of beauty. Henrikh Mkhitaryan is the provider again. He threads it through to the onrushing Anthony Martial, who opens his body and curls it beyond Joe Hart.
Interesting to see that the Frenchman didn’t celebrate there. Inwardly happy I’m sure, but he’s desperate to be starting these games.
The Stretford End have been chanting for Martial and they have got their wish.
He's on for Rashford, who has given ex-City man Zabaleta a torrid afternoon and was unlucky not to score when his fierce drive hit the inside of the far post and rebounded across the face of the goal.
Lukaku was denied a hat-trick by Zabaleta's superb block and Blind has sent a bouncing volley onto the top of the net.
Hammers will be happy to get back down the motorway to London with only a 2-0 defeat.
